Overview
The townhouse master suite had an attached ensuite, which was dated from the prior 1990’s builder-grade standard fit-out. The client was looking for a design fundamentally of strong consideration for a long-term approach to accessibility.
Client: G. T. Tully
Location: Kenmore, Brisbane
Services: Ensuite design & build.
What We Did
- Worked with client on visual design including the custom sea green and brass colour theme of tiles and accessories.
- Added hidden accessibility infrastructure to enable this later expansion, including placing blocking inside the wall cavity to enable grab rails to later be easily added without disruption to services and at appropriate places with aesthetic design consideration.
- Tiles were selected to ensure appropriate grip and minimal cleaning of grout required for easy long-term maintenance by the client and to prevent falls on slippery floors.
- Lighting was updated to ensure a bright, well-lit and energy-efficient space.
- Mirrors were added both above and below the built-in mirrored cabinets to extend the room’s appearance of height and length, giving it air and space.
- Fixtures (hooks, rails, roll holders, shower head, tapware etc) were selected for matching colour themes and high-quality, long-lasting functionality. The fixture to turn on the shower was placed at the entry open end of the shower so that you can turn it on and heat up the shower without getting wet.
- A tiled corner seat was placed in the walk-in shower area to provide a place to sit while you shower.

Client testimonial
My ensuite was a poky little add-on from my bedroom with a shower screen that continually stuck. It is now a work of art that I proudly show off. The area is not only a showcase with the beautiful green basin contrasting with the brass fittings and the rippling green waterfall effect for the wall at the back of my shower, it is also an extremely practical & functional space designed to cater to every need. These features include but not limited to – extra hooks, bench for sitting in the shower if required or to prop you leg on, inlet in wall for all shampoos , gels face wash etc, extra good light for the mirror, heating or fan as required. I love it!
