Open-Plan Living Spaces

Integrated kitchen, living, and dining areas are ideal for modern acreage homes. We can remove walls to open up flow, add custom TV and entertainment cabinetry, integrate shelving for books or decor, and create recessed nooks or fireplace features. Consider wide-plank timber flooring, architectural lighting, and sliding doors to connect with your outdoor spaces.

Formal Dining & Sitting Rooms

For homes with more traditional layouts, these rooms are a chance to introduce elegance and character. We can enhance them with built-in sideboards, wine display cabinetry, ceiling detailing, or decorative wall panelling. Materials like polished timber, wainscoting, or antique-style lighting fixtures help define these spaces while staying true to your home’s overall theme.

Multi-Use Family Zones

These rooms often need to balance multiple purposes, such as study stations, play areas, or entertainment corners. We can integrate built-in desks, toy or media storage, flexible seating, and custom display shelves. Wet or dry bars can also be included for casual entertaining, along with cabinetry for games, glassware, or tech. Smart layout planning helps visually separate functions while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic.

Frequently Asked Questions

Planning a home renovation often comes with plenty of questions, and we’re here to make the process as clear and stress-free as possible. Below are answers to some of the most common things our clients ask when starting their journey.

Can you remove walls to create an open-plan living area?

Yes, we can assist with wall removal and structural changes. Engineering reports and council approvals may be needed depending on the scale and whether the wall is load-bearing, but we can guide you through the process. This is a frequent request so we are very familiar with all this entails and can work with you on any internal requirements like additional supporting beams to ensure your house structure is perfectly supported while improving the open flow of the livable area.

How can I improve natural light in my living or dining area?

Improving natural light often involves enlarging or repositioning windows, adding skylights, or removing walls to open up the space. Using materials with reflective qualities, such as gloss cabinetry or mirrored finishes, and choosing light-toned paint colours can also help enhance brightness.

What are good flooring options for shared family zones?

We can help you select from a range of durable and attractive options. Hybrid planks are highly scratch-resistant and ideal for families with kids or pets. Engineered timber combines aesthetics with durability and moisture resistance. Tiles provide excellent longevity and ease of cleaning in high-traffic areas.

Can you integrate a TV, media wall, fireplace or entertainment cabinetry?

Yes, we can include tailored cabinetry for media systems that hides cables, offers open or closed shelving, and enhances the overall look of the room. These units can be designed to house streaming equipment, gaming consoles, speakers, and decorative elements. We have included LED fireplaces in some builds for both heat/aesthetics.

What if I want a more formal dining area?

We can work with you to zone and style a formal dining room within an open-plan home or as a standalone space. Decorative features such as coffered ceilings, feature lighting, and built-in cabinetry can elevate the aesthetic and make the space feel special. We have worked on coffered ceilings before, please check our Brookfield library portfolio example to see the outcome.

Do you install power points, lighting, and fans?

Yes, we can coordinate all electrical work with licensed electricians. This includes installing new fixtures, fans, smart lighting systems, power points with USB ports, and ensuring that lighting plans support both function and ambience.

Can these renovations be done on their own, or only with kitchen or whole-home upgrades?

We typically complete living and dining renovations as part of a broader kitchen or whole-home upgrade. However, if your goals are focused and feasible, we can assess your scope and determine whether a standalone renovation makes sense for your property. We have done one standalone play room (downstairs conversion) for a client in the past.

How do you make open-plan spaces feel cohesive?

We use consistent flooring, coordinated colour palettes, repeated materials, and matching cabinetry to tie each space together. Thoughtful lighting placement and design continuity across living, dining, and kitchen zones also improve flow and harmony.

Can you include a bar or drinks station in the living or dining area?

Yes, we can include wet or dry bars as part of your cabinetry. These are ideal for entertaining and can be tailored with glass display shelving, under-bench refrigeration, wine racks, and extra storage for glassware and beverages.

Is it possible to create study or kids’ corners within these rooms?

Yes, we can create built-in desks, reading nooks, or homework zones within your living areas. These are especially useful in multi-use family rooms where space must serve multiple functions without feeling cluttered.
